Quo vadis Fruchtkaramellen

A design icon and a german "Faschings" Love-Piece

What's that for you: RETRO ICON, MUSEUM PIECE, CARNIVAL BUNNY or PLUMBEN PULLER?

We all know those little square chewy sweets, don't we?

When you think of them, your mouth involuntarily starts to water.

Carnival is the peak season for chewy sweets.

They are called "Boehme Fruchtkaramellen" and are produced in Delitzsch, Saxony, by Delitzscher Schokoladenfabrik GmbH.

They've looked the same for ages - decades.

So why aren't they modernised and brought up to date?

Darren Ellert, head of the company, had this to say:

"Sure, every now and then we've tried to modernise the fruit caramels, to position them in a higher-quality way and to try out new flavours.

But to be honest: so far, every one of our attempts has FAILED miserably." *

In addition to long-established pattern recognition, there are other questions about what is behind the packaging:

👉 How much sugar content is still acceptable today?

👉 How much artificial flavouring?

👉 What outer packaging - and sustainability?

👉 Who is the target group and what is the brand story?

👉 How is the price-performance ratio developing?

👉 AND: what is it actually called?

"Childhood sweets"

"Jecken FrĂŒchtchen"

"Retro rockets"

"Naschkatzen Karo" ???

Quo vadis fruit caramels: what would you do with them?

Do you have any other ideas?

Do you sometimes snack on them - secretly?

Does such a product have a future today?
